People play Animal Crossing for a lot of different reasons. For some it’s to kick back and relax, while others want to collect everything. For myself, it has always been about paying off my debt. It’s a task I handled easily in the original and City Folk, but New Leaf buries you in bills upon bills.
This entry doubles the possible size of the house from the home console versions. Aside from your starting floor-plan, you can upgrade your house with five additional rooms. Each can be expanded multiple times, adding onto the costs. The result is that New Leaf’s homes are double the price of the usual ones in the series, except in Wild World’s case.
In addition to your massive housing debt, they let you invest even more bells into town projects. This feature existed in past games through donations to help build bridges and lighthouses, but New Leaf greatly expands what you can buy to enhance your town. It feels like there’s a near endless supply of projects to unlock and fund.
I’ve felt a bit fatigued for the series in general and New Leaf was just too much. After about 65 hours, I lost interest.
