If you asked a Call of Duty fan what they love about the series, I don’t think their answer would be the characters. Outside a few names, like Captain Price, Soap, and whoever Kevin Spacey plays in Advanced Warfare, I have my doubts that you’d get even a small list of names.
I played a lot of the original Call of Duty in my teens and I got really attached to Sergeant Moody and Private Elder. There’s a mission within the game that features the three of you escaping German territory via a jeep. I love the banter that goes on during the final sequence. Moody is screaming orders while Elder just nervously yells back at him.
It’s a kind of sequence that’s been overplayed now. But at the time, I appreciated the added personality to your squad mates.
