I’m a big fan of the point and shoot controls that the Wii Remote offers for first person shooters. Even if the control scheme isn’t ideal for turning the character, making precise shots is incredibly satisfying.
The on-screen arm movement in early Wii shooters looked like a wonky mess. In the launch game Red Steel, the arm flailed about on the screen as you moved your cursor. Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 was the first game on the system that tightened up the controls and made the arm movement less sporadic.
I love using the handgun in this game because holding the Wii Remote feels close to the on screen representation of holding a pistol. The controller is like an extension of your hand into the game world.
I found that two-handed weapons lose this effect, so I often played with just the handgun even if it put me at a disadvantage. The Wii Zapper accessory was aimed at solving this problem, but its cheap build quality and awkward shape made it difficult to use.
