When you’re as dedicated to video games as I am, it’s hard for anyone who isn’t invested in the scene to surprise you with a video game as a gift. Either they get you something you asked for or they end up taking a complete shot in the dark and hoping it works. For the latter, the results are usually terrible.
However, Red Dog, from what I remember of it, is a surprisingly alright game. My dad got it for me with my Dreamcast. I’d never heard of it and have yet to meet someone else who has played it.
It’s basically a vehicle based shooter and you navigate a lot of mining facilities and tunnels. The main weapon I recall is some kind of laser gun with a limited amount of ammunition. The laser would change color and start to fade as you ran out of battery power for it. Looking back on it, that seems like a nice little touch.
That description may sound kind of vague, but it has been a good 10 years or more since I played it.
If you put the disc into a PC, you can find some hidden pictures of some of the developers.
