At Sin City Anime in 2022, I’m doing / did a panel discussing buying fanmade / doujin goods online from independent Japanese artists. These are the links to the resources I discussed.

Proxy Shipping Services

Buyee – Generally easy to use, but it seems to require that they have an already built-in integration with Buyee.

Tenso – More complicated than Buyee and has identity verification hurdles. However, more flexibility. It can be used with basically any Japanese online store.

Direct Purchase Online Stores

Alice-Books – Good for ease of use. You can likely skip the proxy shipping service.

Booth.PM – It seems the most popular site for most sellers

PictSQUARE – Limited-time virtual storefronts. Sellers in-world stores may link you to other services to purchase from instead.

Indirect Purchase Online Retailers

Melon Books – Material typically aimed at men

Fromagee – Material typically aimed at women

There’s a specialized landing page for the above two websites for foreigners.

Toranoana– Material for men and women. It also features an English landing page for foreigners.

Secondhand Online Retailers

Otaku Republic – I’ve never used it, and the markup looks pretty high, but they’re specifically focused on doujin goods.

Suryuga-ya – Some doujin specialization. It seems they offered direct shipping but may no longer as of COVID. Primarily useful for legacy content.

Yahoo Auctions – Not doujin specialized at all and primarily useful for legacy content. Has an English pahttps://buyee.jp/yahoo/auction?lang=enge with Buyee integration.

Mercai – Not doujin specialized at all and primarily useful for legacy content. It also has Buyee integration and is an alternative to Yahoo Auctions.
