Generally, if a player isn’t fully immersed into a title, it’s considered a bad thing. The player is deep within the title and looking to be absorbed by the world, characters, atmosphere, and so on. The random glitch, an out of place object, poor design choices, and more keep you from fully immersing yourself in a title, reminding you that this is a game and you’re holding the controller. But some titles purposefully go for this effect of having the player realizing the controller is in their hand and they’re part of a separate world. And while not all titles pull it off well, breaking the fourth wall can create an surprising experience.
