I look at a lot of junk over the weekend when doing my weekly news round up. So here’s some stuff I likely wouldn’t talk about elsewhere.

This week we have SEGA’s Blitz Ball in Mobile RPG form, Bejewled with Guns and jiggly butts.

Wonder Gravity – Weird Multiplayer Blitz Ball

Wonder Gravity is a pretty cute looking mobile RPG from SEGA. While I don’t get the feeling the single player is unique, the multiplayer looks kind of crazy. It’s basically 10 vs. blitz ball, with each combatant having five companions of their own.

The footage is a little hard to digest, so it’s difficult to say exactly what each player is doing and what the ultimate strategy is. A lot of these types of games are dependent on a player’s team make-up, so I’d worry that you could basically join a game you’ve already lost.

The game is out, so I tried to look up some more footage. But after a quick skim of youtube, didn’t see anything outside of single player content.

The Chaser – Bejeweled with Guns

I love how dumb this trailer is. Like, it being kind of like bejewled with guns is one thing. But all the loud explosions and stuff just takes it to the next level. It just seems overly excessive for the type of game it is. Weirdly enough, the tutorial music at least is quite relaxing

I eally like the character design too.

Senran Kagura: Peach Ball – Swing

At this point, I don’t have a ton of interest in Peach Ball. There are some neat concepts here, but ultimately I think Gun Gun Pixie might be more promising in the whole “attack the giant lady”… genre?

What is interesting is the opening has a weird like 1920s feel to it in terms of music and structures, yet also has bright pastel colors I wouldn’t typically associate with this era.  Admittedly I don’t think there was much colored photography in 1920, if any, but this America in Color segment (around the 11:20 mark) kind of paints swing entertainment a bit more conservative in its pallet.

There’s also a significant lack of giant pinballs.

Samurai Showdown Looks Good

I DON’T KNOW SHIT ABOUT SAMURAI SHOWDOWN, BUT THIS LOOKS REAL NICE. There’s something weirdly budget-looking about its characters. But overall the aesthetic is pretty amazing.

I’m sure I’ll never play it.

NIKKE –  Live 2D Butt Jiggle The Game

I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a concept trailer or if it has actual gameplay but just the weird look just comes the implementation of Live 2D.  It seems to have some sort of relationship to Destiny Child who uses the animation technique pretty excessively.

Really no interest in much here, outside of just always being curious to see how far developers can take Live 2D. Can’t say I’ve ever seen someone try to make a cover shooter using the technique.

This also seems to be announced alongside something called Project Eve, but nothing in that trailer caught me interest. Stuck with the butt jiggle though.

The Ongoing Saga of Budget Kemco RPGs

If you’re familiar with Kemco’s output over the last decade or so now. It’s mostly been waves of really cheap looking RPGs using the same engines over and over. The only reason I bring this one up is that this might be the first time I’ve seen one of their games using a 3D overworld.

I honestly have no idea if these games are any good. I should try one some day.
